Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Orpheum handles information. It covers the Orpheum software, which you install and run on your own computer (“the App”), and the orpheum.tv website (“the Site”). In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Orpheum.

The short version: Orpheum is self-hosted. Your library, watch history, settings and account data live on the computer you run it on. We do not operate a cloud service that stores your media or your viewing activity, and we do not sell personal information.

1. Information the App stores on your computer

The App keeps the following in a local database and in folders on the machine where you install it:

• Your media library, including file locations, metadata, artwork and watched or resume status.
• Your settings, including watchlists and preferences.
• Credentials you enter for services you choose to connect, such as metadata APIs.
• If you turn on accounts, each user's name, email address and profile picture from Google sign-in, plus their personal watch data.

This information stays under your control. It is not sent to us.

2. Third-party services the App contacts

To do its job, the App connects directly from your computer to services that you configure or that it uses for metadata. These include:

• Metadata providers such as TMDB, OMDb, fanart.tv, TVmaze and Google Books. The App sends title search terms and receives artwork and details.
• Other services you connect yourself, using your own accounts with them.
• Subtitle services, if you turn them on.

Each of these services handles data under its own privacy policy. We do not receive what you send them.

3. Google sign-in and Google user data

If you turn on accounts, the App lets people sign in with Google. When you do, it requests:

• Basic profile (OpenID, email address, name and profile picture). The App uses this only to identify you as a user of your own Orpheum install and to show your name and avatar.
• Google Drive app data (drive.appdata), if you turn on backups. This gives access only to a hidden folder that belongs to Orpheum in your own Drive. The App uses it only to save and restore backups of your Orpheum settings and watch data. It cannot see or change any of your other Drive files.

Google user data is handled only by the App running on your computer, and is stored there or in your own Drive. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. It is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not used to train AI or machine-learning models. People never read it, except where you ask for help and share it with us yourself, or where the law requires.

Orpheum's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can revoke Orpheum's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page. Once you do, you can delete the Orpheum backup data in your Drive, and remove your account from your Orpheum install.

4. The website

orpheum.tv is a simple informational site hosted on Cloudflare. It sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising or tracking scripts. Cloudflare processes standard request information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver and secure the Site. This is described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. Page fonts load from Google Fonts.

5. Information you send us

If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply to you. We keep them only as long as the conversation needs.

6. Children

Orpheum is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Security

Your data stays on your own hardware, so it is only as secure as that machine and your network. Keep your system updated, and don't expose Orpheum to the internet without authentication.

8. Your choices and rights

You can view, export or delete everything the App stores by managing its data folder, or by uninstalling it. Depending on where you live, you may have extra rights over personal information. Since we don't hold your App data, most requests are handled directly on your own install. For anything else, contact us below.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will also be noted on the Site.
